Mr. Matthews
graduated in June 1982, from Washington State University in Pullman,
Washington. He was awarded a Bachelor of Science in Forest and
Range Management and became a member of the Dean's Honor Society.
From 1979 to 1986, Mr. Matthews was employed by the U.S. Forest Service
and worked on the Willamette National Forest in Oregon. His responsibilities
included work crew supervision and on-the-ground management of one hundred
fifty thousand acres of wilderness lands in the central Oregon Cascade
Mountains.
In 1987, Mr.
Matthews left government service and started the general contracting
firm Matthews Woodworks. The company specialized in residential
and commercial remodeling. In addition, the company provided design,
cost and project consultation to a variety of clients. Responsibilities
included cost estimation, construction, onsite management and general
contracting.
In 2000, Mr.
Matthews joined the firm of REuSOLVE as an appraiser.
After working in the profession for two years, Mr. Matthews undertook
the education and gained the experience necessary to become a licensed
General Appraiser under the State of Washington Professional Licensing
Program. Accordingly, he is licensed to appraise all types of
real estate.
Mr. Matthews
has performed appraisal services for private firms and public agencies
(including city, county, state and federal), religious and other nonprofit
organizations and a number of private trusts, estates, families and
individuals.
Assignments have involved fee simple and leased fee valuations, condemnation valuations, market analyses, financing, title insurance recompense, open space purchase valuations, and trail easement and conservation easement value determinations. In addition, Mr. Matthews has performed a variety of research and data analysis assignments for REuSOLVE’s principal, Anthony Gibbons, MAI, CRE.
